Poll hacked: Where's the responsible journalism?

Posted: 24 Jun 2011 08:46 PM PDT

I refer to the article 'It's not so 'Bersih' after all' in Star on 24 June on their online poll on Bersih being hacked.

Usually I would not be bothered by the news or articles published in this particular mainstream media. However this article caught my eye when I browsed through the comments section at the beginning of the day.

It would be understandable if it was written by some usual journalist or columnist working for the press but coming from their own chief editor; this is disgusting. How could he pass an allegation on the alleged manipulation of the online poll results on their website to the doing of the Bersih supporters?

The identity of the person who hacked into the polls is not even found yet. Anybody can speculate anything while the truth is yet to be unveiled. Who knows, it could have been the work of somebody else on the paper's side to trigger you journalists to spin a story.

Sorry to say, the Star has totally lost their credibility on truth reporting as it shows that even their chief is writing an article based on unsubstantiated allegations.

Still, I will keep following the news from Star, not to be brainwashed but to inform the people of the truth behind the story. You may write as you like, but we will keep our eyes on you, Star.
